It's been a couple of months since I've last updated the blog, but we continued to go to Alec's football practices and games. They had lost 3 games in a row and then the team seemed to click and began winning, beating some difficult teams. We made it to the playoffs and continued winning. Yesterday Alec's team won the Northwestern Regional Championship game against a Nevada team. They won with a score of 20 - 16. Alec was QB for most of the game and when not in the QB position, he played offense and defense. Now the team moves on to the Pop Warner Super Bowl National Championship games at Disney ESPN Center in Orlando. Their team (the Seahawks), will be playing their fist game on Alec's 14th Birthday, Dec. 8th and hopefully move on to the BIG Game. They beat the Douglas Tigers of Nevada that was undefeated this season from Nevada. We're looking forward to going to FL next week!
Here's the article that was in the local paper.
The Santa Cruz Seahawks' junior midget team beat the Douglas Tigers of Nevada 20-16 to win the Division II Pacific Northwest Regional championship in Santa Clara on Saturday, earning a berth to the Pop Warner National Championships in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. View Full Story
Below are pics from the game -- Rene takes between 700 - 800 pics per game -- gotta love the sport feature. Alec's shirt # is 2. Seahawks scored first, with the Tigers answering the call with their on TD. At half-time the score was 14-16 with the Tigers up by 2. However, the Seahawks came back with another TD and also prevented the Tigers from scoring in the second half. Tigers made some crucial errors in the scond half that the Seahawks capitalized on -- was a very exciting game and the team is stoked at getting a chance to play in FL.
