Golden Railroad Museum

Visited the Colorado Railroad Museum which is located at the foot of North Table Mountain just East of Golden. It's a 14-acre museum that has more than 90 historic locomotives and cars. The depot-style main museum building houses two levels of photographic document and artifact displays, as well as a large operating HO model railroad layout. We spent 2-3 hours climbing on the trains and taking in all the history.

Club car or parlor car.

Snow plow used to clear the tracks

Mail car where the mail was sorted into cities while the car was enroute to destinations. The train never stopped to pick up or drop off the mail. The mail bags were thrown off the trains while in motion and picked up on a special hook by the mail handlers.
